Jules Verne. Born Jules Gabriel Verne on February 08, 1828 in Nantes, France, he began his career as a professional writer in 1850 through his work entitled Les Pailles rompues or The Broken Straws in English. Some of his works include Journey to the Center of the Earth which was published in 1864, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea which was published in 1870, and Around the World in Eighty Days which was published in 1873.
Around the World in Eighty Days was published as Le tour de monde en quatre-vingts jours on January 30, 1873 by Pierre-Jules Hetzel and covers the story of Phileas Food and Jean Passepartout as they try to go around the world in only 80 days starting from London and back.
