Ned Land. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: A Tour of the Underwater World was written by Jules Verne and was published in 1870 by Pierre-Jules Hetzel. The English version of the book was then published two years after the original publication or in 1872. Ned Land is not only a Canadian harpoonist, but he was also a whaler.
The book covered his story together with Conseil and the narrator of the story, Professor Pierre Aronnax, as they went into an expedition in New York City to find and destroy the sea monster which was thought to be a giant narwhal or a toothed whale which has a large tusk that was spotted during 1866.
