Amanda Marquit. Although the book was published when she was already nineteen years old, she actually began writing the book Shut the Door when she was only fourteen and eventually finished it when she was sixteen years old. It was published on February 21, 2006 while she was studying at Brown University and covers the story of two sisters named Lilliana and Vivian who were struggling to find their own identities as young adults.
The New York Post even wrote that Shut the Door was “a raw and disturbing portrayal of a suburban family.” Amanda Marquit dedicated the book to her “Mom, Dad, and Adam, for being the family upon which this book is based – just kidding.”
