Phileas Fogg had eighty days to go around the world. The answer is obvious because Phileas Fogg was the main character in Jules Verne’s book entitled Around the World in Eighty Days. The book was published on January 30, 1873 which covered the story of Phileas Fogg and Passerpartout, his French valet, in their attempt to travel around the world from London and back in just a matter of eighty days.
His original itinerary include London to Suez Egypt in 7 days, Suez to Bombay, India in 13 days, Bombay to Calcutta in 3 days, Calcutta to Victoria, Hong Kong in 13 days, Hong Kong to Yokohama Japan in 6 days, Yokohama to San Francisco in 22 days, San Francisco to New York City in 7 days and New York to London in 9 days.
