1609 - henry hudson was serching for the northwest passage, but found the delaware bay/river area. this voyage led to further exploration in the area. later more europeans came to the area.1654-johan risisng was the governor of new sweden (swedes). he attached fort casmir, which angered peter stuyvesant. stuyvesant of new netherland (dutch) attacked the swedes, and took their land. later the english conquered the dutch in new netherland.1682- william penn founded a new colony called pa. at the sight of philadelphia, he created a settlement which grew with the arrival of immigrants from may parts of europe. soon, more came for religious freedom and new opportunities and the colony grew. penn had an excellent relationship with the native americans; this also increased the size of pa.
