Besides being from the same family, the armadillo, sloth and anteater also are animals known for having no teeth. However, they each have certain features that allow them to acquire food successfully. The armadillo is a mammal that has a shell-like feature over its back for protection. Like the anteater, the armadillo’s diet consists of ants and other bugs.
Armadillos can curl into a ball for defense and dig to find their food. Anteaters use their incredibly long tongue to flick out of their long snout to catch ants and other bugs. Sloths have sharp claws to dig in the trees or ground to find their ants and bugs for their diet. Also, sloths are known for swimming and actually swim fairly fast.
