Insects have six legs. They use their legs to move around on land and to land after they were in flight. These insects include small insects like ants and flies, but they also include bigger insects like bees, cockroaches, moths and butterflies. However, some bugs have only four legs like grasshoppers and beetles. Sometimes, these bugs are thought to be insects, but they are actually a different type of bug and not an insect.

With their legs, they also have wings to help move through the air. The legs are located on the middle part of the insect’s entire body. This area is called the thorax. The thorax has three sections with each pair of legs located on that section. One leg is located on one side of the body with its matching leg located on the other side of the body.
