Velvet ants are wasps. These types of wasps are known to be called velvet ants or panda ants due to their outside coloring. These velvet ants are mainly orange in color. Although, they be other neutral colors as well. Also, these wasps do not have wings to fly around so they seem to resemble an ant even though they belong to the wasp family. Most of these wasps like nectar which becomes their main source of their diets.

Since the wasp can’t fly, it can still attack and creep into other nests in order to attack them. These wasps are still known for inflicting pain by stinging just like the regular flying wasps. They also produce a strange noise that sounds similar to a bird tweeting.
