Baby pigs are called piglets - like the little pig in “Winnie the Pooh” books and movies. Pigs are often referred to as swine, hogs, or pigs, and a mother might be called a sow. Often, piglets are only born twice a year. A domestic piglet is often the one we think of if we’re not picturing Piglet from “Winnie the Pooh”.
The pig piglet that is shown as is the domestic pig, and is often the one that is taken from their family to be slaughtered for ham, pork, and sausage. A few domestic pigs are kept as pets, but these are few and far between. Often, the bristles, hide, and other parts of the pig are sold off as well once the meat has been sold off.
