In Sierra Leone, people frequently trade and purchase items from different parts of the country. It is needed that the currency is the same throughout the country. In Sierra Leone, the name of their currency is called the leone. Prior to the 1960s, the country’s currency was not the leone. So, it may have been more difficult in that country regarding currency.
During this time, until the mid-1990s, the values of the leone coins were for a half cent, 1 cent, 5 cents, 10 cents and 20 cents. Then in the 1990s, the value of the money decreased, so new coins were introduced. They changed to 10 cents, 50 cents and 100 cents in order to accommodate the change in value.
