Jerusalem is found in the country of Israel. It is located between the Dead and the Mediterranean Sea and covers an area of 125,156 square kilometers. Jerusalem is considered to be the capital of Israel but it is not internationally recognized as such because Jerusalem does not have an international status and also because it is considered as one of the issues in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process since both countries wanted Jerusalem as their own capital.
The European Union then stated that Jerusalem will have the status of corpus separatum which means that Jerusalem is given a special political and legal status different from its surrounding environment, but it still falls short of being an independent city state or a sovereign.
