The Atlas mountains goes through Africa. This range includes impressive peaks such as Mount Kilimanjaro, which is Africa’s highest peak - peaking at a height of 19,340 feet. Other notable mountains include Mount Kenya and Mount Meru. The mountain range is rich in a variety of resources. They include, but aren’t limited to: iron ore, marble, minerals, mercury, silver, copper, and natural gas.
There are also large deposits of coal, helping to fuel the world's coal dependency. They go through Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria, through Northern Africa. Despite its somewhat more remote location, there are many species here that have gone extinct. They include the north African elephant and the Atlas bear. Other species near extinction include the Atlas cedar and the Atlas mountain viper.
