The scientific name of Bermuda Cedar is Juniperus Bermudiana. Bermuda Cedar is an endemic tree found in Bermuda which, if I might add, cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Its history can be traced back as early as 1600s when the first settlers saw and figured that Bermuda had cedars all over the place – freshwater marshes, valleys and upland forests.
They used the Bermuda Cedar to build home, furniture, church and ships and after quite a while, they began exporting the cedar logs to England until exports were finally restricted. It was given its scientific name because Bermuda Cedar is a species of juniper plants (Juniperus) which can only be found in Bermuda (Bermudiana).
