The motto on the Brazilian flag is Order and Progress in English. The Brazilian flag was adopted on November 19, 1889 or four days after the Proclamation of the Republic with the color green to symbolize Brazil’s forests and fields, a yellow diamond or rhombus which symbolizes the country’s wealth when it comes to gold, a blue celestial globe with the words “ORDEM E PROGRESO” or Order and Progress and twenty seven (27) pointed stars which are arranged in the same arrangement as the night sky over the country.
The Brazilian flag’s concept is the work of Raimundo Teixeira Mendes, a Brazilian philosopher and mathematician, in collaboration with Manuel Pereira Reis, Miguel Lemos and Decio Villares.
