The largest national park in Alaska is the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. It has over 20,000 square miles or 53,000 kilometers in area. There is the whole Wrangell mountain range located in this national park. There are several other smaller ranges like the Nutzotin Mountains and the Granite Range. There are also a few rivers located in the national park including the Chitina River nad the Nabesna River.

Many people hike in this national park, but they should be cautious since there are many frigid and snowy days in the wintertime. Another precaution that should be taken in this park is the volcanic activity in the Wrangell Mountains. There are minerals that were discovered in the national park including gold. It is believed that these mountains were explored as early as 1000 AD.
