Coastal management is the process of halting erosion and excess water flooding. There have been ways to stop this erosion. Some ways have included beach nourishment where extra sand replaces the sand that has washed away. Another way is called hold the line. This causes the sand to stop from being eroded. The management does this by placing and building constructions called seawalls to prevent this. Another technique is called limited intervention.
Salt marshes are constructed to protect the sand. Coastal management usually takes place when the erosion has taken place over time as well as when a tropical storm has taken place. A hurricane can cause such force that it physically pushes the sand away from the shore. The sand must then be replaced.
