Situated on an island, Palau’s capital city is Melekeok. Since it is on an island, this city has a long shoreline, but it also has a hilly terrain with cliffs and rivers. Lake Ngardok is the biggest lake in Melekeok with fresh water in it. Unfortunately, this lake also houses crocodiles in it. Melekeok is made up of villages as opposed to larger cities and countries having districts.
Melekeok’s capitol building is located in the village of Ngerulmud. However, Melekeok is quite small with having fewer than 400 residents. In addition, this 400 residents live among about 7 villages. The smallest village only has 5 residents. Melekeok has several attractions to tour including a stone bridge and a stone path among the few.
