Compared to the tropical forest climate, the temperate forest climate is cooler. The temperate forests are located in the southeastern part of Canada, the eastern half of the United States and in certain parts of Europe and Asia. Their climate can best be described as warm summers and cool climates. The temperate forests have large amounts of rainfall which accounts for the cooler temperatures.
In the temperate forest, these areas have trees that have large leaves or pine needles. Since the leaves remain on the trees year round, the winters in temperate forests are warmer than other areas with similar climates. In the temperate forests, there are two different types of tree. They are coniferous and deciduous which may have a slightly different climate based on the type of trees in the forest.
