When you see a group of islands that dot a map and are very close together, iy is called an archipelago. In most cases, the islands included in the archipelago belong to the same country or nation. Even though these islands are their own piece of land because they are not connected to another piece of land, the people on these islands share similar, if not the same, culture and government.
Lots of the archipelago islands that are located in warm climates may have a tourism economy. Archipelagos usually contain hundreds of islands. One example of this is Scotland. This country has hundreds of islands that are not connected to the actual country’s main land. Other countries that have archipelagos are Greece, Indonesia and Japan.
