The Canadian Shield is an area in Canada that surrounds Hudson Bay and the Great Lakes. It is roughly five million miles. This shield extends all the way up to the Arctic Ocean. Part of the Canadian Shield consists of many small islands. This shield includes rocky mountainous terrain with rivers and lakes in it. This area is also covered with green forests.
Ice and snow is located in the northern area of the Canadian Shield. This Shield is completely round. Most of the shield is primarily above sea level due to the rocky mountains and forests. Besides including Quebec, Ontario, some U.S. states, it also includes Greenland and parts of Canada’s other provinces and territories. Some of the Appalachian Mountains are located in the Canadian Shield.
