When a geographer or geography teacher talks about the physical features on a map or country, they are talking about the landforms, bodies of water, and the plants and animals associated with these areas. On a map, the physical features are shown usually showing colors or pictures. Mountains are a physical features that may be shown using an upside down “V” or by using brownish color. Other landforms include hills, plateaus and fields.
Bodies of waters include oceans, seas, rivers and lakes. These physical features are shown usually using blue since water is blue. Plants and animals in these region can also be included in the physical features. They will most likely not be included on a map unless it is a thematic map detailing these plants and animals.
