Latitude has 90 degrees on each side with a total of 180 degrees. Latitude is measured though the circles on the globe which is parallel to the equator and these circles are called parallels of latitude. It begins at the equator with 0 degree to 90 degrees either to the North with positive degrees of latitude or South with negative degrees of latitude.
There are five major parallels of latitude from north to south and these are as follows: Arctic Circle with a parallel of 66°33’ N, Tropic Cancer with a parallel of 23°27’ N, the equator with a parallel of 0°, Tropic of Capricorn with a parallel of 23°27’ S and Antarctic Circle with a parallel of 66°33’ S.
