It takes twenty-four (24) hours for Earth to complete one full rotation. There are actually two ways to determine the number of hours in which Earth rotates – 24 hours with respect to the sun and 23 hours and 56 days with respect to the stars. Our planet Earth rotates at the speed of more than 1,000 miles per hour at the equator, and this speed is just enough for Earth to complete one full rotation in just 24 hours.

Different planets also mean different number of hours in a day – Venus takes 5,832 hours or approximately 224 days to make one full rotation, Mercury takes 1,408 hours or almost 59 days, Mars tales 25 hours, Uranus takes 17 hours, Neptune takes 16 hours, Saturn takes 11 hours and Jupiter takes only 10 hours to make one full rotation.
