Its capital is Brisbane and, although smaller than Western Australia, it has a population of more than 4 million people. South Australia is the third largest state with an area of 983,482 square kilometers. Its capital is Adelaide and has a population of more than 1 million people.

Tasmania is the smallest state with an area of 68,401 square kilometers. Its capital is Hobart and has a population of more than 500 thousand people.
