All countries in East Africa were colonized by Europe except Ethiopia. The capital of Ethiopia is Addis Ababa. Ethiopia is also the largest East African country with a landmass of 1,104,300 km2. Tanzania has a mass of 947,303 square kilometers, and Dodoma is its capital. It is the second-largest in East Africa. Kenya covers an area of 580,367 km².

The capital of Kenya is Nairobi, which boasts as the only city with a national park. Uganda is the 34th most populous country in the world. The capital is Kampala. Rwanda is a landlocked country. Kigali is the capital, and it is home to over a million people. Eritrea covers an area of 117,600 km2. The capital city is Asmara Burundi covers an area of 27,834 km. The capital is Bujumbura. The population is about half a million. South Sudan is Africa’s youngest country. The capital city is Juba. Djibouti has a landmass of 23,200 km. It is one of the smallest in Africa. 1. Tanzania which covers 947,303 square kilometers with a population of more than 45 million. It has thirty regions with Dodoma as its capital and it is the 30th most populous country on the Earth;

2. Burundi which has a population of more than 10 million people;

3. Rwanda which covers 26,338 square kilometers with a population of more than 12 million people;

4. Uganda which has a population of more than 38 million people. It has 11 districts with Kampala as its capital and it is the 34th most populous country on the Earth;

5. Ethiopia which covers 1,100,00 square kilometers with a population of more than 99 million people. It has twelve provinces with Addis Ababa as its capital and it is the most populous landlocked nation in the whole world;

6. Eritrea which covers 117,600 square kilometers with a population of more than 6 million people. It has six regions with Asmara as its capital and it is the 106th most populous country on the Earth;

7. Djibouti which has a population of more than 800,000 people;

8. Somalia which has a population of more than 10 million people. It has eighteen administrative regions with Modadishu as its capital and it is the 83rd most populous country on the Earth;

9. Kenya which covers 581,309 square kilometers with a population of more than 45 million people. It has eight provinces with Nairobi as its capital and it is the 31st most populous country on the Earth; and

10. Sudan which has a population of more than 41 million people.
