Deltas are formed at the end of a river as it empties its water and sedimentary and carries it to another body of water such as a lake, ocean or another river. It is a sedimentary landform commonly found where a river and an ocean meet together.
There are different types of deltas such as the fan-shaped delta wherein the river splits numerous times on the way to another body of water thereby creating a fan effect such as the Nile Delta, the cuspate delta wherein the mouth of the river protrudes out like an arrow into another body of water such as the Ebro Delta and the bird’s foot wherein the river protrudes like a bird’s foot as it reaches another body of water such as the Mississippi Delta.
