Zebras are very easy to spot because of their bold markings of black and white stripes. Zebras feed mostly on grasses, but their efficient digestive system allows them to absorb more nutrients from their food, so they can also eat shrubs, twigs, barks and leaves.
Zebras heavy striping makes it harder for prey to attack. If they stay within a herd, the stripes from all of the zebras make it hard for a predator to single out one zebra, which makes the predator more hesitant to attack. Zebras have excellent eye sight; it is even believed that they can see in color.
