A zebra’s top recorded speed at a run has been forty miles an hour. Despite this, the zebra doesn’t use running alone to its advantage when it is being chased or hunted as lunch. They will run in a zig-zag pattern when being chased. This zig-zag pattern makes it harder for a predator to catch the zebra, especially if they try to run in a straight line and corner them.
If they are cornered when being chased, the zebra does something pretty interesting. They will rear up and do one of two things to their attacker. They’ll either kick the other animal, or bite them.
The zebra’s speeds are similar to that of a horse’s at a full run. However, they are still the slower of the two animals.
