Although alternative health options are used by both men and women regardless of their age and race, studies revealed that women ages 25 to 44 years old are more likely to use alternative health options than men and children. According to a statistics report from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Health Statistics Report #12, 36.3% of adults ages 18 to 29, 39.6% of adults ages 30 to 39 and 40.1% of adults ages 40 to 49 are using alternative health options such as meditation, massage, progressive relaxation, diet-based therapies and homeopathic treatment. There are many uses of alternative health options, but it is found that adults are most likely to use this kind of treatment for back, joint and neck pain.
