The four types of bacteria are spirillum, bacillus, coccus, and vibrio. This classification is done according to the shape of these bacteria. Spirillum refers to any of the aerobic bacteria that belong to the genus Spirillum with elongated spiral form. In other words, they are spiral-shaped bacteria. Examples of Spirilla bacteria are Helicobacter pylori, Rhodospirillum centenum, etc. Bacillus refers to any of the spore-forming, rod-shaped, aerobic bacteria that belong to the genus Bacillus. While some occur individually, others occur as chains. Bacilli are usually causative organisms for certain diseases. Examples of Bacillus bacteria are Bacillus thuringiensis, Lactobacillus, Bacillus anthracis, Bacillus megatherium, and many more. The third type of bacteria is coccus. Coccus bacteria belong to this classification because of their spherical shapes. Examples of coccus bacteria are Streptococcus pneumonaie, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus. The fourth type of bacteria is vibrios. These are bacteria with a curved rob or comma shape. Examples are V. cholera, V. cyclitrophicus, V. ezurae, V. halioticoli, etc.
