A 25-gallon bucket of paint can fill 100-quart cans. Depending on the type of paint, a gallon of paint on average weighs about ten pounds. Different paints have very different qualities. One gallon of paint will cover approximately between 300-400 square feet at a typical thickness of one coat.
Most latex house paints have a weight between 9-10 pounds. It would depend upon the amount of resin and pigment in the paint. Conventionally, if the surface to be painted is appropriately prepared, and if all else is optimal, the imperial gallon will create approximately 400 square feet.
