In a lot of medical emergencies, this will always be considered serious because people would need the opportunity to breathe. In people who have Parkinson’s disease, this can be considered an emergency as the patient will be immobilized.
When the airway clearance is compromised, this can also make a person more susceptible to a lot of other respiratory diseases that may worsen the patient’s condition. The other things that are mentioned above may also be serious. This means that they are not life-threatening and different treatments can still be done in order to improve their condition.
Ineffective airway clearance-in parkinsons crisis, dopamine-related symptoms are severely exacerbated, virtually immobilizing the client. a client who is confined to bed during a crisis is at risk for aspiration and pneumonia. also, excessive drooling increases the risk of airway obstruction. because of these concerns, ineffective airway clearance is the priority diagnosis for this client. although imbalanced nutrition:less than body requirements, impaired urinary elimination and risk for injury also are appropriate diagnoses for this client, they arent immediately lifethreatening and thus are less urgent.
