Limited Techincal Inspections (LTIs) are performed on new equipment to inspect for any changes or damages. LTIs are equipment inspections that are limited in scope and objective.

They are generally directed at inspecting equipment conditions to determine the extent and level of maintenance required to restore it to a specified condition or to check for serviceability status.

A technical controller marine's main job would be to perform limited technical inspections to make sure that the equipment is working properly and will not cause harm to anyone who will be using the equipment.
