Writs of assistance-2. the sugar act-3. vice admirality court-the writs of assistance allowed customs officers to search shipd and warehouses for smuggled goods. the sugar act was intended to make goods cheaper to pay the import duties, than to find ways to evade and decieve in order to get smuggled goods sold. the vice admirality court made it so that court was not as lenient as the civil court where the people where choosing the punishment for smuggling crimes. once smuggling became to costly, risky, and unreasonable smugglers would turn a new leaf and just take the easier route and pay the crown for the priveledge of importing goods such as french mollases.
