In most stories, there is a climax. This means that the events during the climax are the turning point of the story. It allows the reader to understand what is going to happen to the character who is experiencing the problem in the story.
The turning point of climax of the story, “The Landlady” is when the main character, Billy, realizes that the parrot is stuffed because it hasn’t moved. The landlady states that when her pets die, she stuffs them. That is why the parrot is stuffed. After this part of the story, Billy drinks his tea and realizes that it is laced with cyanide which is a poison. Cyanide is easily determined in many foods or drinks because it has a distinct taste.
The most exciting moment in the story iswhen the landlady says that mulhollandand temple are still upstairs. because ofclues that have been given before, we knowthat they checked in over two years ago, yetthey are not visible in the house. we soonlearn that the dachshund hasnt moved andmay be a stuffed animal. we can figure outthat the landlady has somehow killed themen and stuffed them, and we are justwaiting to see what will happen to billy. asecond event that could be the climax iswhen the landlady has given billy thepoisoned tea, tells billy that mulhollandsskin was like a babys, and then admitsshe has stuffed the parrot. then we knowexactly what will happen to billy.
