I consider the debate on the death penalty in the united states to be a value conflict. Some people believe its inhumane to execute human beings on death row.
Recently, there was a botched execution of a convicted killer in oklahoma, where after receiving deadly chemicals he suffered until he eventually died from a heart attack. The moral dilemma is, should we kill allegedly convicted murders to deter further murders if it causes them pain and suffering.
Morally, should we kill a person for murdering somebody else, even if it means we are committing murder or should we keep them in the prison population with life without parole, even though the united states has the highest incarceration rate in the world.
