Gene is the basic unit of genetic information. It is the basic unit of heredity in living organisms. A gene may take several values. It also predetermines a precise trait of an organism’s form.

Gene is made up of a small segment of DNA. Genes vary in size. It ranges from a few hundred bases to millions of bases. Their primary function is to act as instructions to make molecules known as proteins.

A bacterium that is born by the splitting of one parent has the exact gene as that one parent. Humans have two copies of every gene, one from each parent. Genes are contained in chromosomes that are present in a cell nucleus.

Es super falso. Si fuese así, entonces solo el porcentaje minimo de nuestro DNA que se traduce correspondería a la información genética. Pero funcionamos también con regiones del DNA que no se traducen, y que son fundamentales para el correcto funcionamiento y regulación de la célula. La respuesta a esto es el DNA, el DNA es la unidad básica de la información genética, incluyendo regiones codificantes como genes o regiones no codificantes.
