By their very nature, managed futures provides a diversified investment opportunity. trading advisors can participate in more than 150 global markets from grains and gold to currencies and stock indices. many funds further diversify by using several trading advisors with different trading approaches. \r\n\r\na casam cisdm analysis of an 18-year period (1990-2008) showed that managed futures experienced lower drawdowns than the following indices: dow jones, s&p 500, msci world, ftse 1000, dax, nikkei 225 and nasdaq composite. note, however, that the cisdm index represents voluntary submissions by trading advisors and may not include the activity of every advisor. also, past performance is not indicative of future performance.\r\n
