An 13 year old girl is referred by her GP with urinary symptoms. She has had dysuria and frequency for the last two weeks, and now has haematuria. She was empirically treated with antibiotics but with no improvement. Six months ago, she went on a two-week holiday in South Africa, where she swam most days in a lake near her cousins home. On microscopy of her urine, parasitic ova are seen.
