There is no such decimal place as oneths. You may have observed it in your math class that your teacher starts the decimal places from tenths. You may asked yourself but never get the chance to ask why there is no oneths place to your instructor. The reason is the “oneths” place is already the ones in the whole number place. It serves as starting point for the whole numbers and decimal numbers.

You can easily remember the place values of the numbers by starting one the ones place. All the numbers to the left are whole numbers and multiplied by 10 so following ones place is tens, hundreds, and so on. While going to the right after the decimal point are divided by 10 so tenths, hundredths, and so forth.
