Restart the installation, and choose f6 to install the driver for the scsi adapter. -you need to supply the appropriate scsi adapter driver from a floppy disk and restart the installation of windows xp. most likely the driver for the scsi adapter is not accessible to windows xp professional, which is preventing xp from locating the hard drive attached to the scsi adapter. during the text-mode portion of the xp installation you will see an informational message at the bottom that says to press f6 if you need to install a third-party scsi or raid driver. replacing the scsi adapter reduces the overall functionality and configuration options of your computer, and would be costly to do on all machines. the new computer should already be configured to boot from the hard drive, and the irq for the scsi adapter should also be pre-set.
