Bipolar disorder is a mental health disorder which is infamous for extreme highs and low moods and energy. Anyone can be susceptible to bipolar disorder. Bipolar statistics show that bipolar disorder is far more common than most people realize. It is believed that two to seven percent of people in the United States suffer from bipolar disorder. Many of these people are left undiagnosed and untreated.

Both men and women are at risk for developing different forms of bipolar disorder. It is also present for all ages, races, ethnic groups, and social classes. The disease usually starts in a person's teenage or early adult years. Some studies indicate that a person can suffer up to ten years before receiving an accurate diagnosis.
