An equilibrium in science refers to the elements on all side of the situation are balanced. One element doesn’t overpower another item. They are all balanced and the same. There are times that a mixture of ice and water can reach an equilibrium.

There are certain actions that must be met in order for this to happen. Both of these elements are made of the same thing which is two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. However, the ice is in a state of being a solid whereas the water is in the state of liquid.

However, the rates of melting and freezing must be equal as well as the same position of equilibrium can be reached by cooling the water and heating the ice.
