What is the difference between the Backspace and Delete key?

Whenever you are typing on a computer, you will most likely need to use the backspace key at some point. This is because you have made a mistake. Remember back to the typewriter. You could not backspace usually. You had to use correction tape whenever you made a mistake.

Now, on the computer, you can easily hit the backspace key. You probably are so familiar with it, that you hit this key without even knowing it. However, there is another key similar to the backspace key and it is called the delete key.

It may be close in location on the keyboard to where the backspace key is. The main difference between these two keys is that backspace erases everything behind it and the delete key erases everything in front of it.
