The computer has different drives that either are attached internally or are removable. These drives work to provide temporary as well as permanent storage. The computer system assigns different drives with different names. The initial floppy drives are assigned the names A and B. the next letter is C, which is assigned to the first hard drive that is built into your computer.

This is the permanent storage of your computer and allows your computer to store content indefinitely. The removal drives are portable drives that work to allow you to store media and then transfer them efficiently to other places or other computers.
