Adolescence is a difficult time for both the children and their parents. Teenagers are learning to become their own person and will need to separate from their parents in order to do so. This doesn’t mean that the parents aren’t still needed, but the role does change. Wise parents will loosen their restrictions and controls over the child’s clothing and personal emails or phone messages.
The parents need to balance this while still ensuring that their teen is safe and making healthy choices. When the teens see that they can make smart decisions on their own, their confidence will improve and help create a greater sense of competency.
