Critical thinking involves carefully analyzing information and creating a judgment based on that information. This type of thinking could greatly benefit a tutor. One reason is that it will allow the tutor to come up with ways to properly help the student they are tutoring.
They can do so by taking the time to analyze the student, as well as their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to the subject. From their analyzing, they can come up with ways to not only help the student learn critical thinking of their own but also help them improve their learning of the subject.
Critical thinking can improve our academic performance by developing the following skills:
understanding the arguments and views of others
critically evaluating those arguments and views,
developing and defending ones own well-supported arguments and views.
It also allows us to make informed, logical decisions,
lets us help others to think critically, and
allows us to be able to view problems from other perspectives.
