Michael Jackson is known as The King of Pop. Michael’s music transcends all genera’s. He has crossed all racial barriers more than any other artist in the world. Thriller still today is known to be the best selling/top selling album of all time in the World! Not even Michael himself could break the record he set with Thriller. He is also the only artist who has given the most to charity til this date. When he died the World mourned his passing. Michael began singing, at the age of 5 years old. His first performance was a rendition of Climb Every Mountain, in his school’s talent show, back in Gary Indiana, he received a standing ovation. Michael travelled the world as early as 10/11 years old. He had #1 recording’s and sold out concerts along with his brother’s as the lead singer of The Jackson Five and The Jackson’s. The Jackson’s were the first African American family to have their own Variety Show on CBS when Michael was a teenager around 17 years old, or younger. It was a summer series in the mid 70’s. Michael recorded 4 solo albums for Motown. He was nominated for an Oscar at 14 years of age for his performance of the song Ben. The Jackson Five also had their own Saturday Morning cartoon. They are known as the first Boy Band because of their vast popularity around the world. They were the first of their kind to sell lunch boxes, tee shirts, pins, posters etc. Michael has recorded 10 or 12 solo studio albums in his adult life. Michael started his solo career in 83, or 84, even though he recorded the solo album Off The Wall in the late 70’s, he still toured as lead singer of The Jackson’s. Also, Michael is the first African American music Artist to have a music video (Billie Jean) featured on MTV in the 80's. He has won every award and even has awards named after him. One is the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award via MTV. This is in honor of his short films to his most popular hits. After Thriller Michael recreated the ‘music video’ by turning them into productions filmed by some of Hollywood’s top movie directors of the time. I personally believeMichael Jackson surpassed The Beatles and Elvis. He is in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame twice, once as a part of The Jackson 5 and as a solo artist. I could go on and on but I will stop here.
