The quantum mechanical model states that matter has properties that are associated with waves and based on the Uncertainty Principle, quantum theory emphasizes that it is impossible to determine the momentum and exact position of an electron during a particular period of time.

The origin of quantum mechanics started when Max Planck and Albert Einstein discovered and proved that matter and light can both behave like particles and waves. The discovery began the quantum mechanics era, which in general is the physics of tiny things. Quantum mechanics also states that particles have a particular number that is described as quantum numbers.

This number represents the properties of the particle which in general tells us how soft or hard, dull or shiny the material of the said particle is composed of.
