An electronic machine that allows information to be input, processed and output is known as a computer. In other words, a computer is a machine that can easily be programmed to accept data from users, process the data to give useful information, and store the output in a storage device. The components of a computer are hardware, software, and users (people).
The hardware of a computer system refers to every fixed part of a computer that cannot be changed without any physical modification or replacement. Examples are hard disk, motherboard, etc. The second component of a computer system is the software. Software refers to a set of instructions that tell the computer what to do.
Unlike the hardware, the software of a computer is modifiable. The third component of a computer is the people. Although the users are not really part of a computer system, people are the most important part of it. The reason is that the computer system is useless if there are no users.
